The State centre of excellence programme for the Ten-pin Bowling had been set up in the Sibu Division since July, 1998.

Coach Desmond WONG has been appointed to handle the programme.  Amateur Bowling Association of Sarawak (ABAS) honorary secretary Chester LIM said State Sukma coach Jonathan CHUNG would conduct a joint assessment of the trainees at Sibu Superbowl Centre.

Currently, we have 20 over students under training in sibu.  Amateur Bowling Association of Sarawak (ABAS) will be scouting for talents, especially for the girls' division, in Sibu and Miri in preparation for the Penang 2000 Sukma.

Chester LIM said Sibu had produced talents like KONG Chok Chan and Peter HO for the state squad.  KONG was the bronze medallists in 1987 national junior circuit grand finals while Peter has been graded as triple A trainees.
